The family settled in Wollongong, and in 1841 removed to Brisbane Water. Later on Windsor was visited, and finally Wisemans Ferry, where Mr. Walmsley lived for the considerable period of sixteen years. In 1856 he purchased land at Brisbane Water, and settled down permanently to follow the avocations of squatter, grazier, farmer, and timber merchant. As a pioneer of the district he has taken an active part in all public affairs, poses as an authority on sporting matters, and is the fortunate owner of considerable landed property at Blue Gum Flat and Gosford. On the incorporation of Gosford as a municipality, he was elected an alderman in which position he has done good for local advancement.
