Details: Re money belonging to Leach being lodged in the hands of Dr. Nisbet, surgeon of the Hooghley which amount was handed over to the Superintendent of Convicts Frederick Hely. The Interest was never drawn out of the Savings Bank by Leach or by his authority. As well as this sum about December 1837 the cutter Vulcan was wrecked off Newcastle when Leach saved one of the crew from drowning. For this act Colonel Snodgrass the Activing Governor Ordered a pecuniary reward of 5 pounds to be allowed to leach which sum was placed to the Savgins bank account of Leach and drawn therefrom by James McGreavy in September 1839 by order of Leach. The Magistrate requesting that further enquiry be made touching the claim of Leach for the first sum of money
