Details: As Mr. Alfred Boggis was on his way from his residence in Hunter-street to the Chronicle office in Scott-street, he was intercepted by Charles Edward Thurlow, who attacked him in a most brutal and cowardly manner with a riding whip with which instrument he inflicted some thirty or forty strokes upon the back of Mr. Boggis with as much severity as he possibly could. One of the water police happening to see the assault ran up and took Thurlow into custody and he was taken to the lock-up and charged with assault
