Details: On Sunday evening at about half-past eleven o clock, Mr. Smith, lessee of the Sportsmans Arms, High-street, West Maitland, was greatly startled and horrified by a little boy running to him and telling him that Dr. Watson, who was staying at his house, had fallen from his bedroom window, and was lying outside dead. Mr. Smith immediately rushed outside, and leaving others to attend to Dr. Watson, ran (as he was, only partially dressed,) for Dr. Wigan. On returning he found that Dr. Watson had raised himself up, and was walking in without much assistance. The doctor it appears is in the habit of walking in his sleep, and his own bedroom at the Wollombi being on the ground floor, it had been his custom to walk in and out without hindrance. Fancying, in his sleep, that he was in his own house, the doctor seems to have got up and walked out of the window, which is some 12 or 14 feet from the ground. It maybe looked upon almost as miraculous that the doctor escaped with his life, much less to get off with the comparatively little injury he has sustained. On hearing of the accident Dr. Wigan was soon in attendance, and under skilful treatment the patient, we are happy to report, is progressing favourably.
