Details: DR. VICTOR ETHELBERT SUDLOW was born in Newcastle in 1862, and educated at Mr. Murdoch s private school, and at the public schools under Messrs. Peek and Willis. On leaving school he spent five years in the study of medicine under Dr. Knaggs, and then proceeded to Dublin, where he studied at the University for three and a-half years, and successfully passed all examinations, taking three prizes for anatomy, midwifery, and medical jurisprudence, with the degrees of L. and L.M.K.Q.C.P.I., and L. and L.M.R.C.S., Ireland, and an additional diploma for midwifery at the Rotunda. Dr. Sudlow returned to Australia at the end of 1886, and immediately commenced practice in Newcastle. An additional interest is attached to Dr. Victor Sudlow s career on account of his being the first Newcastle native to obtain his degree as a fully qualified medical man. He is the youngest doctor in practice in the district.
