Details: On the occasion of the opening of the new private hospital Orwell Lodge, established by Nurse Loader, her practical ability as a nurse was described - When a few years back there was an epidemic of typhoid and influenza and the local hospital was full, and both Dr. Halcomb and the matron were down, it was then that Nurse Loader came to the rescue and rendered splendid service. She worked untiringly and the very capable manner in which she did everything pulled the Hospital through a most anxious time

Details: The weatherboard building in Bridge-street, now being demolished to make way for a business block, was erected 53 years ago by the late Mr. A. R. Lang for the late Dr. R. Grigson, who was associated in practice here with the late Dr. Halcombe. The building has served as a surgery for the whole 53 years, having been occupied for varying periods by Drs. Brown, Hancock, Watson, Roger, Garrett, Macarthur and Abbott
