Details: Reminiscences of R.W. Alison - The first resident medical officer in Dungog was Dr. John Henry Cooper, who had come from NZ. His wife had been Jean Scott MacDonald, whose mothers maiden name was Jean Scott, a cousin of the Duke of Buccleuch. Dr. Cooper lived in Mackay Street somewhere behind the Bank of NSW. He died in 1851 and his widow went to live with relatives in Adelaide. The eldest son of A McD. Cooper later a bank manager. The second son was J.H. Cooper manager of the union Bank of Perth. His daughter becme the wife of RL. Alison of Cooreei. In 1852 Mrs. Cooper returned to Dungog to become the wife of George Mackay of Melbee
